MACD Conference 2023

Follow-up and presentations

Tamara Scholer - 29.06.2023

On 1 June 2023, the MACD Conference took place in Zurich. Over 90 people from more than 30 financial institutions attended. We would like to thank Oscar Neira and Pascal Wild for their exciting presentations and panelists Andreas Langenegger, Daniel Blatter and Fritz Jost for their expert tips on the implementation and challenges of crypto trading.

Oscar Neira (Head Sales & Marketing, Incentage AG) spoke in his presentation about the acceleration in the banking industry using the example of instant payments and the associated compliance requirements.

Pascal Wild (Head Banking, Member of the Management Board, Inventx AG) showed in his presentation what role technology will play in banking in the future. He focused on the topics of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Super Apps and Open Finance.

You can find more information in the two presentations, which are available for download in the sidebar on the right.

In the panel discussion moderated by George Macdonald (CEO, MACD), Andreas Langenegger (Senior Salestrader & Co-Head Crypto Assets, Berner Kantonalbank AG), Daniel Blatter (Head Digital Assets, Director, InCore Bank AG) and Fritz Jost (Chief B2B Officer, Sygnum Bank AG) talked about what to consider when implementing a crypto trading offering and discussed the challenges of trading digital assets.

In his concluding presentation, George Macdonald spoke about MACD's competencies and gave an update on the developments of the last few years.

George Macdonald explained that the processes behind brewing beer - one of his hobbies - fit well with what happens in securities trading: On the outside it looks quite simple, but on closer inspection the facets are very complex. There are many regulatory requirements for securities trading and the stock exchanges and brokers follow their own technical procedures, which in themselves form a complex construct. Smooth connectivity and compatibility between the different systems must be guaranteed. Above all, the IT requirements are very extensive and IT security is also becoming increasingly important, so that software must be regularly maintained and monitored. Implementations and encryption methodologies also differ greatly.

MACD has been working for more than 20 years according to the motto: Trading made simple! We bundle the destinations, including the many complex processes and requirements, in a solution tailored to the customer - with a single connection to MACD in order to be networked worldwide.

Our MACD Community has continued to grow in recent years. Although we are growing steadily, close collaboration with our customers and partners is still very important as we regularly refine our product based on feedback. As George Macdonald emphasised at the end: We achieve the best solutions together!

Many thanks to the panellists and speakers for the exciting presentations and to our customers and partners for the good discussions.
